A Tradition Centuries in the Making
The hammam is one of the oldest forms of therapeutic bathing in the world. In Zanzibar, it is not an imported concept. The Hamamni Baths were commissioned in the late 19th century by Sultan Barghash bin Said, built in Persian style by an Iranian architect, and used as both a public bathhouse and a place of community. Before them, Sultan Sayyid Said built private bathing quarters at Kidichi for his household.
The tradition of the hammam in Zanzibar is genuinely Zanzibari.

The Private Suite
Our Sultan-inspired private hammam suite was designed for couples or for guests who prefer complete solitude. The space draws on the architectural vocabulary of Zanzibar's royal bathing tradition: warm stone, flowing water, and the unhurried privacy of a room built for restoration.
